Foodmachine is the Warmachine and Hordes community banded together to fight hunger through charity events combining the love for gaming with the desire to help the needy.
Thrall Harvest 2012: Donate and Win
Let’s start with the part of Foodmachine 2012 where you can participate easily and instantly:
- Donate US$ 10+ to Action Against Hunger USA via Razoo.
- Receive one chance to win the Orange Crush army per dollar.
The winner will be randomly selected via Random.org and announced by Privateer Press staff at Templecon 2013: The number rolled will determine which dollar is the winning one, starting with the first dollar donated to the site. The winner will receive the Orange Crush army. It’s a 50 point Tier 4 Lord Carver army painted by volunteers around the world in an orange-based scheme:
Lord Carver, BMMD, Esq. III (+6)
* Gun Boar (5)
* Road Hog (9)
* War Hog (8)
* Targ (2)
Rorsh and Brine (9)
6 Farrow Bone Grinders (3)

Privateer Press’ studio painters, Matt DiPietro and Meg Maples, will be painting up Arkadius and Sturm & Drang (respectively) as bonus warlocks, while this year’s GenCon Formula P3 Grandmaster, Richard Curtiss, will be painting up Lord Carver for the army. In addition, Privateer Press’ hobby manager, Leo Carson-DePasquale, has agreed to paint up Targ. – Privateer Press will be basing all the models.
Foodmachine: Donate and Cheat
The idea behind Foodmachine is simple: support a good cause by playing games and having fun. This can be a large involved event or a smaller tournament. What matters is that players have a good time, donate canned food to a local organisation, and everyone walks away knowing it was a day well spent.
A Foodmachine event can be any kind of tournament format with this one twist: built in cheating! By donating canned goods, players can “cheat” during their games. The more cans they donate, the more they can cheat. A list of suggested cheats can be found within the rules packet.
To bodge Foodmachine up to Page 5 standards, Privateer Press has again stepped up as they have in years past with prizes to help recognize the donations: They will be designing custom vinyl banners with their artwork and the names of the winners of each prize category of Foodmachine. – Additionally, the group that donates the most cans overall will win the traveling Foodmachine trophy.
The organisers hope to see Foodmachine events around the globe from November 1st through December 31st 2012 [I know, I know, I’m a bit late to the party]: Foodmachine was conceived by the St. Louis River Dogs and has grown significantly. Now the torch has been passed to the NJ Somerville Ogrun Bokurs (NJ SOBs) to keep the movement growing. – The following interview with Norbert Brunhuber gives you additional insights:
